FriendMap: The Social Map That Brings You Closer
Preview: Seeing where friends are makes you feel connected. FriendMap isn’t about tracking—it’s about togetherness.
Why We Built FriendMap
Ever found out after the fact that a friend was in your city? Or seen someone post from an airport and thought, wait, you were here?!
Or maybe you’ve just sat at home, wondering what your friends were up to—not in a nosy way, just in a we-used-to-see-each-other-all-the-time way.
That’s why we made FriendMap. Not to track people. Not to replace texting. But to make you feel connected to your people, even when you’re not together.
Because knowing where your friends are—whether they’re in your city or across the world—makes friendships feel real. It’s a quiet, background presence that keeps you in the loop without the effort.
How FriendMap Works
It’s simple. FriendMap lets you see where your close friends are, but only when it actually matters.
If a friend is traveling, you’ll see where they landed.
If someone’s nearby and free, you’ll know.
If a friend is just home, doing nothing, you’ll see that too—just like you would if you lived on the same block.
No constant live tracking. No alerts every time someone moves down the street. Just a way to feel like you’re part of each other’s daily lives.
Life Feels Better When You Know What’s Up
Think about when you were younger, when you knew exactly where your friends were at any given moment. The neighbor’s house. The mall. The usual coffee shop. That feeling of casual, effortless connection.
FriendMap brings that back.
You don’t have to ask. You don’t have to check in. You just see your people in a way that makes life feel more connected.
Your best friend just got back from a trip. Time to call.
Your old roommate is in town. Grab a drink.
Someone you haven’t caught up with in a while is just chilling at home. Maybe it’s a good night for FaceTime.
It’s not about doing anything specific. It’s about feeling close, even when you’re not.
What We Love About Other Apps
There are already great location-sharing apps out there, and each one does something well.
📍 Find My Friends (Apple): The best at simple, seamless location sharing—great for letting family or close friends know where you are without much effort. We love how baked-in it is to iOS, making it easy to use.
🚗 Life360: Built for families, this app does an amazing job at real-time tracking, safety alerts, and driving history. We love how it gives parents peace of mind.
🗺 Snap Map (Snapchat): A fun, interactive way to see where people are—but it’s more about a broad social map than real, close connections. We love how it makes travel look exciting, with hotspots and stories.
Where FriendMap Fits In
We took inspiration from all of these but wanted to create something that’s purely for friendships.
Less about tracking, more about social connection
Less about everyone, more about real friends
Less about always on, more about moments that matter
FriendMap isn’t for keeping tabs—it’s for keeping close. It’s for those times when knowing where your people are makes you feel connected, even if you’re not meeting up.
The Future of Social Maps
Right now, we’re in a weird spot with friendships. We text instead of calling. We scroll instead of catching up. We watch each other’s lives through curated posts instead of actually being there.
FriendMap flips that.
It makes friendship feel closer again—without more notifications, more apps, or more effort. Just simple, real-time awareness of where your people are.
Because when you know what’s going on in your friends’ lives, you feel more connected. And when you feel more connected, life just feels better.
